World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB announced this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series recorded 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise over last year and the network’s best postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen different tongues.
